Rents in Romanian shopping centers dropped to the levels see in 2002, when the market was in early stages of development, according to a study by real estate consultancy company Jones Lang LaSalle.

The study also shows that rents dropped 10-15% in the second quarter compared to the first three months of the year, and the trend will continue in the near future as well.

Furthermore, according to the report, the largest rents, even in high-performance shopping centers, dropped to EUR60-75 per month, while units on the most important shopping strips collect rents of EUR60-70 per square meter per month.

There were no new shopping centers launched in the second quarter this year, so the commercial space stock remained at 580,000 sqm in Bucharest and at 1.4 million sqm nationwide.
