Ruling Party To Propose Ecaterina Andronescu As Education Minister

Firea announced that her colleagues voted unanimously to propose Andronescu for the office vacated in August.

If appointed, Andronescu would serve her fourth term as education minister, previously holding the office during the Adrian Nastase (2000-2003), Emil Boc (2008-2009) and Victor Ponta (2012) cabinets.

The Bucharest Mayor also added that Foreign Affairs Ministry secretary of state George Ciamba will be the party’s proposal for the recently-vacated European Affairs Ministry, a previously reported by MEDIAFAX on Monday.

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila announced that she will forward the proposals to President Klaus Iohannis on Tuesday.

“We made these proposals because we need experimented individuals. These are two important portfolios, and they will be headed by people who can bring them value,” the Romanian Prime Minister said following the meeting.
