Romania’s General Emergency Services Inspectorate (IGSU) announced that two people were caught under the vehicle and died shortly after they were extracted by firefighters.

Other 20 individuals who were in the shuttle at the time of the crash received emergency medical attention on site and were transported to hospitals. The injured victims were all awake, according to IGSU.

The crash took place on the DN38 national road, near the entry to the town of Topraisar from Amzacea, Constanta county.

Eight ambulances, a multiple-victim transport vehicle, a fire truck and a rescue vehicle were dispatched to the crash site to help the victims.

Constanta County Police announced that the crash was caused by the shuttle’s driver, who failed the adapt speed to dense fog and wet road conditions and lost control of the vehicle before it overturned on the roadside.

The shuttle belongs to a company who is providing regular passenger transport services between Negru Voda and the city of Constanta.
